BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)

The demand for RCDD professionals is growing rapidly, as more and more projects require that bids are submitted by qualified RCDDs. The role of the RCDD is to design, control and manage the installation and maintenance of network systems. RCDDs are not inhibited by specific product criteria, they provide a long term view, combining innovative and advanced techniques with existing proven technology. RCDD status is recognised and mandated by many private and public organisations such as the TIA(Q) Scheme. To maintain RCDD status, professionals are required to renew their registration every three years and gain a minimum of 45 BICSI CECs. This involves a commitment to a continuing educational programme, through attendance at BICSI Conferences and study.

General

The BISCI RCDD course is based on the Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM) 12th edition. The Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM), 12th edition, continues in the long tradition of the editions that came before it. New content has been added and existing content has been completely reorganised to more accurately reflect the way the industry has evolved. A new chapter on Health Care reflects the growing use of information technology systems (ITS) within that industry and some of the unique requirements for working in health facilities. Chapters on electronic security, network design and data centres reflect the latest advances in these fields and the continued trend of convergence of all technology infrastructure in buildings onto IP networks and the ITS infrastructure. The information on transmission media and connectors has been revamped and restructured into an expanded and cohesive structure. Additionally, BICSI’s continued commitment to providing a global reference manual, relevant anywhere in the world, remains in place. The 12th edition TDMM continues to emphasise recommendations for best practices drawn from experts around the world while providing deep reference information on the standards and codes that impact our readership as part of their daily business. The TDMM, 12th edition, will be the basis for the RCDD and RITP exams under the NxtGEN Program beginning January 2010.
